Miles & More, owned and operated by the Lufthansa Group, is Europe’s biggest frequent flyer program. The key allure of this program is to earn miles for various actions that can be redeemed for flights with Lufthansa and other associated benefits.
Brands can interact with Miles & More via two different use cases:
Use case 1: Directly let your customer earn and burn Miles & More Miles
Use case 2: Allow customers to exchange your loyalty point to Miles & More Miles and vice versa

This option is suited for brands that do not yet have a loyalty program and that are not planing to launch their own program anytime soon. Managing a loyalty program is a complex process. It’s not a one time set up and the rest takes care of itself. Customer support, reward management and campaigns take up a significant amount of time while running an own loyalty program.
Leveraging the widely established Miles & More loyalty program takes care of this. Easily reward customers with Miles & More Miles for every purchase they make and even let them pay their next order with Miles & More Miles. Create engagement and easily acquire new customers.
Our Loyalty Admin Dashboard (LAD) facilitates a seamless partnership with Miles & More, empowering your brand to earn and burn miles as part of your loyalty program.
To start a partnership with Miles & More, please follow these steps:
Navigate to the LAD and create an account.
Create your brand, loyalty point and subscribe to a package within the LAD.
Note: You still need to create your own loyalty point even though it’ll never be seen by your customers. This is to enable the rewarding & redeeming of miles through the qiibee system. Additionally, it’ll also allow you to get in-depth analytics on your program.
Once the loyalty point is active, go to the Integration section > Token info and set the “Type of integration” to “Light integration”.
Go to the Marketplace section and look for “Miles & More” in the partner list.
Review and accept the reward conditions associated with the partnership.
Send the partnership connection request.
Upon acceptance of the request by Miles & More, you will receive a notification, marking the start of the active partnership.

In case you do not operate a Shopify store, please continue reading the sections below which explain how you can send out and redeem Miles & More Miles via the qiibee Loyalty API integration.
Add a field in your online checkout process to capture the Miles & More account number.
During checkout, customers enter their Miles & More account number to accumulate miles for their purchase.
Develop both frontend (FE) and backend (BE) parts to determine the number of miles earned per Euro spent, validate the FFP number, and distribute miles via the API.
Upon payment completion, the customer receives Miles & More miles. LAD Credits will be deducted from the brand account in the LAD to cover the costs of the miles.

To leverage from qiibee's analytics, we recommend that members be registered within our system. Check out the Create user api endpoint to see how you can register your members with us.
Note
Please keep in mind that the credited Miles are not cancelable nor refundable.
To prevent rewarding miles for returned items, consider sending miles only after the return period has ended. Otherwise, the cost will have to be covered by you. You can either implement the future rewards logic yourself or contact qiibee at dashboard@qiibee.com to leverage our pre-built feature.
Integrate a field in your POS system to capture the customer's Miles & More account number.
Once all products are scanned, the sales associate scans (or manually enters) the customer's Miles & More account number.
qiibee validates the format of the account number before finalizing the checkout.
Upon payment completion, the brand connects with the qiibee Loyalty API to initiate the miles crediting process.
Brands can also award miles manually via the LAD.
Navigate to the 'Members' table within the Analytics section of the LAD.
Select Miles & More miles in the Loyalty Point field
Enter the amount of Miles to send out
Click on the QR code scanner and scan the user's QR code, or manually enter the Miles & More account number of the customer who will receive the reward.
qiibee validates the format of the account number and upon successful validation, credits the user with Miles & More miles.

Account creation, referrals, and similar actions can serve as additional methods to reward customers with miles.
In order to allow customers to burn their miles, MCheckout must be integrated within the checkout flow. MCheckout is a secure, Miles & More-developed service facilitating mile redemption via the Miles & More portal. After a transaction, MCheckout returns the status to a callback URL, enabling the partner to determine subsequent steps based on the received response.
Miles & More GmBH (MMG) and qiibee aim to incorporate MCheckout into the shopping cart checkout process to allow purchases with Miles. During this process, the shopping cart data, including the ID, contents, and prices, are transferred to MMG to facilitate the debiting and/or crediting of the respective Miles.
You will receive the documentation for MCheckout that you would need to implement when the connection with Miles & More is established.
Note
MCheckout is already integrated in the qiibee Shopify plugin which completely removes the need to do any tech integration on the brands side.
This option is suited for brands that already have or do want to run their own loyalty program. Miles & More Miles will not be the only reward but one of the rewards the user can get via the program. On the other hand, brands can also offer Miles & More customers to use their miles to buy the brands loyalty point. This allows them to attract new customers and boost customer acquisitions.

User confirms the exchange. Points are debited and miles are credited via the qiibee Loyalty API.
Tip
You can also manually send out your own loyalty points or Miles & More Miles. Please refer to the Merchant App section or the Helpdesk articles to get more details.
Note
Exchange flows are described a visualized based on the qiibee Loyalty Whitelabel App. In case you start a new loyalty program, feel free to use the qiibee Loyalty Whitelabel App. If you already operate a loyalty program and want to integrate exchanges to and from Miles & More, you can use these flows as best practice and try to replicate them within your loyalty program by integrating the qiibee Loyalty API.
Loyalty Admin Dashboard (LAD):
Admin enters Extensions > Earn options section and activates the “Buy points with Miles & More Miles” card.
This will automatically activate a new box in the qiibee Loyalty Whitelabel App in which users can buy loyalty points with Miles & More Miles (see below).
qiibee Loyalty Whitelabel App (LWA):
User logs into their loyalty program account.
User selects 'Buy Points' and chooses Miles & More Miles.
User specifies the number of points they want to buy with Miles & More Miles. A preview will display the number of miles they will need to redeem.
User connects his Miles & More account can confirms the redemption of miles.
Miles are debited and points are credited via the qiibee Loyalty API
Note
Exchanging Miles & More miles to your loyalty points is supported by the qiibee LWA out of the box. In case you want to integrate the same flow into your own loyalty program, please refer to the Burn Miles section above.
